Yes after many previous "gw is dead threads" I can safely say that today it dies for many farmers across the land. Anet you have gone too far this time and I think the following picture sums up your "update" rather nicely......

Good now maybe people will actually quest in UW. I’m so sick of 55 this and that controlling the underworld portals. Good for ANET. Its about time.
Thank you ANET for the anti farm nerf.
/highfive
and to all you outrageous farmers out ruining UW for so long I give you the
/finger

This update has nothing to do with encouraging cooperative gaming or stopping bots and ebay sellers.
In my opinion it's the first step of a new policy of cost reduction, obtained by getting rid of soloers, who took to many resources.
A good move, very well hidden in a big update, but it's first sign of what will happen in the future of GW1, which they're phasing out.

Continue that thinking a bit further and you get this: Hundreds of bots creating extra server load and slowing the game down for legit players. Anet doesn't like that and so they try and discourage solo farming to reduce lag and increase the quality of our gaming experience.
TBH, if Anet wanted to get rid of players, they wouldn't be introducing things like increased storage space, hard mode etc. Increased storage takes up more room on the servers, hard mode gives monsters more skills (extra calculations for the servers to do), neither of those things make sense if Anet is trying to drive players away.
Conspiracy theories are stupid. In 4 years time, when I'm sitting here preparing to tackle Hells with my new A/P build, I'll look back on this thread and point/laugh.

I feel I have to stand up for the solo farmers.
Until recently, I never farmed. I used cheap items (only refering to skins) to play, and it was a blast. I finished all three campaigns, without much money.
That was fun, and I personally don't have the patience or time to say, get titles. I wanted a fow armor for myself for a long time, but never really did anything about it, nor did I cry over it. Prices were high? Blame the gamers, we make this game and the way its played.
However, after I found a nice solo ele build here on the forums, I found it was rather nice to make a couple of runs every day or too. The rest of the time I had I played normally.
Its time to face a certain fact:
If you wanna kill farming, and just be able to play the game, why make diffrent skins, diffrent looking armor sets and colors? Whats the point to put that into a game, if not to make us players pursuit it? Anyone here think the situation today would have looked the same if there were no farming methods?
Now the excuse is drop rates are up in HM, and its all good I guess, no real problem there. But farmers made the selection, and non-farmers made the prices - out of pressure or whatever, and taking away this aspect of GW economy that works well imho, is linda wrong.
You can make money in lots of diffrent ways in this game, but most of all time is the desciding aspect. Sure, you can buy low-sell high for example, but some like to get it faster. Infact everyone likes it faster, its just a question of priority.
Me, personally, I have 40 ectos from farming for two weeks. Thats it. I think that most people who don't farm, don't have the right to complain about people who do. Punishing those who deserve it (such as bots), AND those who do it fair and square is not right.
Im not saying reverse the whole thing, but I think there is a better way to deal here.
Poor players complain that they don't have money cuz they "can't" farm. Wth is that supposed to mean? Everyone can farm, but like I said, its a matter of priority. DOn't be lazy, start working for your gw cash, thats what I did.
I guess we'll see where this whole situatuion is going in some time.
Just my 2 cents.
